Caribbean music festivals

[21st April 2008]

The Romantic Rhythms Music Festival in Antigua and Barbuda, and the Aruba Soul Beach Festival are just two of the music festivals coming up in the Caribbean this summer.

The inaugural Romantic Rhythms Music Festival takes place from 13-15 June in the beautiful Caribbean holiday islands of Antigua and Barbuda and features pop stars including Lionel Richie, Shaggy, Kenny Rogers and Maxi Priest. Tickets are priced at $50 and are available from May from www.antiguamusicfestival.com.

Taking place from 21-26 May on the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba, the Aruba Soul Beach Festival features an exciting line up of R and B stars as well as comedians. Headlining the bill will be music stars Erykah Badu, Wyclef Jean and Sean Kingston, plus comedian Sinbad.

Festival ticket packages start from £90, including entrance to the Friday comedy night and the main stage concerts which take place in Aruba’s capital Oranjestad on Saturday and Sunday.

First Choice Holidays are offering Soul Beach breaks to Aruba. A 14 night Caribbean holiday leaving from Gatwick airport on 13 May and staying at the Tamarijn Aruba all inclusive located at Druif Beach costs from £1102 per person based on two adults sharing.

Aruba is situated just 15 miles from the coast of South America and offers lovely conditions for a beach break with plenty of sun, cooling trade winds and no rainy season.

British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Excel offer flights from Gatwick airport to Antigua, while bmi flies from Manchester airport to the island. First Choice is currently the only airline offering direct flights from the UK to Aruba.
