easyJet launches Palermo service

Low cost carrier easyJet has launched a new daily service between London Gatwick and the Sicilian capitol of Palermo.

A brand new Airbus 319, the company's 20th aircraft to be based at Gatwick airport, will service the route.

With this latest destination offering from easyJet, the airline has added to a growing list of exciting destinations, including Marrakech, Prague and Split.

The Palermo route is expected to prove popular among British holidaymakers, as Sicily is widely tipped to be one of the most fashionable destinations over the next year.

The capital city boasts a unique melting pot of cultural heritage, with influences drawn from the Phoenicians, Normans, Arabs and Spanish, all of which are reflected in its architecture, historical sights, culture and spicy food.

Meanwhile, the addition of the new plane takes easyJet's fleet to 135, making it the most modern and fuel efficient fleet in Europe.
