Taste of New York at Heathrow airport
Passengers using airline Virgin Atlantics Clubhouse at Heathrow airport will be able to enjoy a taste of New York wine.
To create awareness of the holiday opportunities in New York beyond city breaks to the Big Apple, New York State Division of Tourism is teaming up with Virgin Atlantic to offer 60 days of New York wine tasting at Heathrow.
From 22nd June all Upper Class passengers passing through the Virgin Clubhouse at Heathrow will be given the opportunity to taste some of New Yorks finest wines. Virgin Atlantics bar team, who are all trained mixologists, have spent four days tasting and selecting the New York wines which they think are most suitable.
Although New York may not be associated with wine, New York State is actually one of Americas largest wine producing regions with over 240 wineries in the region. Many are open to the public for wine tasting tours and are a major tourist attraction, receiving more than three million visitors a year.
After California, New York State is the second largest wine producing state in North America and with the popularity of wine tourism growing this is the obvious market to tap into to create much needed awareness in the UK for New York State and encourage visitors to New York City to change a short city break into much more, says New York State Division of Tourism marketing & PR officer, Lyndsey Sugden.
I Love NYs latest ad campaign featuring King Kong will also feature on the in-flight entertainment system on Virgin Atlantic flights from Heathrow to New York.
