Stansted airport gets coach link to London tube

[October 17th 2008]

A new coach service has been started linking Stansted airport with tube stations in West London.

The service, run by Orbis Air Link, will run every two hours 24 hours a day from the London Underground stations at Hammersmith, Acton and Ealing Broadway direct to Stansted. This gives passengers on the Piccadilly, District, Central and Hammersmith & City lines a convenient link to the airport.

“Already 45% of passengers travel to Stansted Airport using public transport, which is a UK leading position and one of the highest figures in Europe. We are looking forward to working in partnership with Orbis Air Link and I’m sure this will help build on our successful and impressive public transport network,” comments Stansted Airport public transport manager, Steve Mills.

Prices for the new coach service start from £8 one way, with discounts for families and groups. Bookings can be made online at Orbis Air Link or by telephone on 08454 708707. Tickets can also be bought from the coach driver on the day of travel.

"In the current economic climate people are making travel decisions that offer the best value and want to travel with airlines that offer the greatest choice of low fares. We recognise this trend and we’re responding to it with this new service. With the support of BAA Stansted and our agency network we know that this route will be a great success," says Orbis Air Link managing director, Nigel Barry.

Other coach operators offering services from London to Stansted airport include National Express and easyBus. Trains to Stansted include the Stansted Express from Liverpool Street station, and the National Express service connecting Stratford and Lea Valley stations to Stansted.
