Luton airport gets seven new flights

[August 6th 2008]

Luton is getting seven new routes from low cost airline Ryanair, including flights to destinations in France, Poland, Italy, Ireland and Lithuania.

The flights start from October 27th and tickets are now on sale through the Ryanair website. With the addition of these new flights the total number of destinations offered by Ryanair from Luton airport will increase to 20.

As demand for flights to Poland appears to continue to increase, Ryanair is introducing two new services to the country – twice weekly flights to Rzeszow plus flights three times a week to Szczecin.

The number of flights to France is also increasing, boosted by demand for short break holidays plus the growing number of second home owners in the country. Ryanair is offering new flights from Luton to the popular seaside resort of Biarritz plus the town of Beziers in the South of France. Biarritz will get three flights a week and Beziers two a week.

Lesser known but increasingly popular destinations to get new flights from Luton are Trapani in Italy and Kaunas in Lithuania. Kaunas, conquerors of Rangers in the Champions League qualifiers this week, will be served three times a week. Trapani, on the Italian island of Sicily, will also get three flights a week.

In addition to the new international destinations from Luton, a new three times a week domestic service to Derry in Northern Ireland will also start.

"We are delighted to announce these new routes with Ryanair giving our passengers yet more choice of places visit and more convenience for business travellers,” comments London Luton Airport MD, Natalie Raper.

“The airline’s decision to expand the number of destinations served from London Luton reaffirms the airport’s ease of use with great transport connections and close proximity to London. Our route network now covers over 95 destinations and Ryanair is an important partner in the ongoing success of the airport,” she adds.

Other airlines operating flights from Luton include easyJet, Wizz Air, Monarch, Thomsonfly, SkyEurope, Aer Arann, XL Airways, Flybe and Thomas Cook.
