Holidays to Goa popular at East Midlands airport

Flights to Goa, the popular winter sun destination in the Indian Ocean, have been snapped up by holidaymakers from East Midlands airport.

Following the launch of flights from East Midlands to Goa this month, the airport reports that 99% of seats have been sold. First Choice Holidays is providing a weekly service from East Midlands airport to Goa until 17 April, and has already announced a full winter programme from East Midlands for next season starting on 4 November 2008.

“Goa is the airport’s first Indian Ocean destination and we have had an overwhelming response to the introduction of this service. To only have ten seats left for the first month of service is a great achievement for a new destination. We are delighted that people from the region are keen to sample this unique location,” says East Midlands airport director of marketing and communications, Caroline Plant.

Goa has long been a popular winter sun destination from the UK. The area has fabulous sandy beaches, a rich cultural history with beautiful temples and churches, and a mild, dry climate from September to March.

"Goa is a genuine jewel in the Indian Ocean and an incredible place in which to enjoy a winter holiday. The new service is incredibly popular and holidaymakers will have to act swiftly if they are to book their place to fly from EMA and enjoy everything that Goa has to offer,” adds Plant.

East Midlands airport offers business and holiday flights to over 100 destinations in Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, North America and Mexico. Other winter sun destinations from East Midlands include Cyprus, the Canary Islands of Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, Madeira, Malta, Barbados, and Acapulco and Cancun in Mexico.

East Midlands airport is part of the Manchester Airports Group, which also includes Bournemouth airport and Humberside airport.
