Best Airport - Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield airport

Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield airport has been named third in the Best Airport category at the HolidayExtras.com Customers' Awards 2010.

Seven miles from Doncaster and 25 miles from Sheffield, Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield is the UK's newest purpose-built airport, constructed on the site of the former RAF Finningley base.

Owned by the Peel Airports Group, which also operates the Liverpool John Lennon, Durham Tees Valley and City Manchester airports, Robin Hood Doncater Sheffield airport currently sees more than one million travellers pass through its gates per year. With flight routes to more than 40 destinations around the world, and with new routes being added regularly, the airport is steadily becoming one of the most popular starting points for travel in the north of England.

Since opening in April 2005, the airport has enjoyed more than £100 million in investment, with a brand new terminal offering the latest in modern facilities. The airport's vision for the future was also recently detailed in its Draft Master Plan, outlining its ambition to handle over 10 million passengers annually by 2030.
