bmi has been named a finalist in the Best Airline Cabin Crew category at the HolidayExtras.com Customers' Awards 2010.

The airline was established in 1938, beginning life as Air Schools Ltd. In 1949, the company became Derby Aviation and began running passenger and cargo charter flights. Ten years on, a name change to Derby Airways preceded the formation British Midland Airways in 1964. In 2001, the company was rebranded bmi British Midland and two years later it finally became bmi.

The airline currently runs more than 1,700 flights per week from 46 airports in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Saudi Arabia. bmi is proud to say that it is the second largest airline at one of the world's busiest airports, Heathrow.
