Why get travel insurance

Protect your trip should the unexpected happen.

Protect your trip

Taking a break either locally or abroad can be expensive. From booking airport parking and hotels to organising flights, accommodation, car hire and activities there’s a lot going on. Which is why travel insurance isn’t just peace of mind for your trip. It’s about helping to lessen the load if things go wrong.

Four reasons to get travel insurance

These are some of the what-ifs you could be covered for should you choose to buy a policy.

Red stop sign

Cancellations and curtailment

If life throws you a curveball before you've even left and your booking is non-refundable, it could impact your finances. From sudden illnesses to your pet needing urgent attention from a vet, there are many reasons why travel insurance can help cover the costs if you need to cancel unexpectedly.

Red first aid kit

Medical emergencies

Not only can medical treatment abroad be expensive, but imagine being in a foreign country and not knowing where to find help. With a range of cover to suit your trip, plus access to Air Doctor's AnywhereGP app, travel insurance gives you emergency medical support when you need it.

Packed suitcase

Mishaps with luggage, gadgets and personal belongings

If your things go missing, get damaged or are stolen while you're away, it could put a real dampener on your trip. Having cover for items like phones, cameras, luggage, passports and cash may make all the difference when it comes to getting your adventure back on track.

Glitches in your journey

Flight delays , missing your connection or incurring extra costs due to disruptions can happen no matter how organised you are. Designed to help during these times, travel insurance makes managing those unexpected moments easier, so you can hassle less and holiday more.

Terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and excesses apply to all of the above, so please read your policy wording for all the details.

Built-to-fit cover

Not all journeys are the same, and your insurance shouldn’t be either. We offer a range of options, allowing you to choose a policy that fits your trip.

  • Single trip cover: created for those who don’t travel often and haven’t planned for any other breaks during the year, this covers one trip of up to 365 days and has no upper age limit.
  • Annual-multi trip cover: this could provide better value if you’re going overseas more regularly within 12 months. Applicable for customers aged 90 or younger.

Options for extra peace of mind

  • Winter sports cover: includes ski equipment, piste closure and avalanche disruption protection.
  • Additional gadget cover: provides extra protection against loss for things like smartphones, tablets, cameras and other portable electronic devices.
  • Wedding cover: up to £15,000 wedding or civil ceremony cancellation cover per person registered on the policy. Plus, protection for wedding gifts, clothing, and rings if they’re lost, stolen or damaged.

Terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and excesses apply to all of the above, so please read your policy wording for all the details.
