Reasons why Holiday Inn Bath Road should be your next airport hotel
We're on a mission to visit every airport hotel we sell, so we can highlight what stood out and give you an idea of what to expect from your stay.
To bring our experience at the hotels to life, we create fresh videos and images showing you its best features. Here's our take on the latest airport hotel we visited – the Holiday Inn Bath Road.
It's always a good sign when the camera crew is all 'ooh this is nice' as soon as you arrive at a hotel. It's kind of cool, kind of modern, kind of like one of those fancy new tube stations (in a good way) with the sleek walls and subway tiles that lead you through into a really nice atrium where, if you're anything like us, you'll be spending quite a lot of your time.

Location
The thing about a lot of hotels at Heathrow is that while many are really close, it can still take a little while to get to your terminal. That's still the case here, to the point that the runway is literally on the other side of the road and visible from some of the rooms. But what sets the Holiday Inn apart is that it's set back slightly from the main strip, giving it a much quieter feel despite being in the heart of all that Heathrow traffic.
Food and drink
Oh we can't stop thinking about the food! Being there on shoot, the restaurant team were keen to give us a comprehensive a taste of the menu, so they could show it all off in our video and gallery. And the food honestly tasted as good as it looked.
My only criticism is the name of the restaurant – Hi! Pizza really doesn't do justice to all the other mouthwatering options on the menu (sorry Holiday Inn!). That's not to say the pizza was bad – we had one of the veggie options which was draped in slices of aubergine and perfectly baked to get those crispy, bubbly bits on the crust. But alongside the pizza came a risotto, spicy pasta and two types of fish – seabass with a pea and mint puree, and grilled cod with a basil sauce.
And since we were staying the night we were treated to even more food later in the evening, including a chicken escalop with the garlickiest new potatoes I've ever tasted, followed by a mighty tiramisu in a teacup.
Staying the night also meant we were treated to breakfast in the morning. Treat being the operative word here because we honestly couldn't get enough, which was good because it was an unlimited buffet. It had absolutely everything we were after for breakfast, as well as a few things we weren't. Breakfast samosa anyone? The self-serve waffle machine was fun to use as well – just remember to close it fully before you flip it (speaking from experience).
Rooms
The rooms have a nifty feel to them and while not super spacious, they don't feel particularly small either. Our rooms were internal facing so we had to remember to close our curtains, but some have runway views or face outside without runway views – you can always ask at check-in if you don't fancy views of the atrium. The same is true with baths, some have them and some just have showers, so if you want to relax in an indulgently filled tub that threatens to flood the bathroom every time you move then ask at reception – except maybe leave that last bit out.
Everything else
A couple of us did spend some time in the gym and while it's quite pokey, we weren't left feeling like we didn't get a good workout. It helped that the room was pretty much empty when we went in, so timing could be key here – we went in at about 5pm and there was one other person in there.
One more thing worth mentioning is that they serve Starbucks coffee at the bar, so make sure you grab one to go on your way out.
