Fancy saving money on your airport parking? Book a hotel too.
Many airport hotel and parking bundles are cheaper than parking alone, and holiday time lost after early morning flights can cost more than the price of a hotel.
You could be sleeping on a handy travel hack that has the potential to save you time and money before jetting off on your holidays this summer. At Holiday Extras we've crunched the numbers and have found that several sun-seekers might actually lose money by not booking an airport hotel before their early morning flight.

Savvy travellers are already making huge savings by booking their airport parking in advance. But after trawling through thousands of prices for parking this summer, we've found you can make even more savings at airports around the country by simply packaging it up with an airport hotel. With many bundles costing less than parking alone, you can save on sleep and wake up at the airport fresh-faced and ready to go.
The highest savings are available at Luton Airport, where the cheapest parking for seven days in August is £140.64*. The equivalent airport hotel with parking package costs £115.60, meaning you'll save over £25 by adding a hotel to your parking booking. That's a saving of 18%, and we found similar results at airports across the country.
Parking only at Birmingham Airport at its cheapest is £107.99 – add a hotel and it's £96.36. Pay £98.99 to park for seven days at Stansted, or stay the night before too for £89.10. Heading to Manchester? Don't pay £89.90 for parking, pay £85.90 for parking and an airport hotel.
The impact of not booking an airport hotel could also cost you money when you arrive at your destination. Our survey of 1,000 UK holidaymakers found that a huge 90% of travellers set their alarms four hours or more ahead of their early morning flight, sacrificing their sleep to travel to the airport. To catch up on their sleep, half take a nap once they arrive at their destination, with one in ten sleeping for five hours or more after checking in – losing out on precious holiday time they would otherwise use exploring and having fun.
With the average cost of flights and a hotel for a family of four on a nine-day break costing £3,095, that means it costs £16.95 for each hour napped – the total for those napping the longest coming to £71.64.
By bundling an airport hotel with parking, you'll not only feel refreshed and relaxed when you arrive but you'll have more money to spend on the most important thing – having a great time when you're away.
