Gatwick Weekend travel

This May bank holiday looks like it will be no exception to the rule - airports and roads will be very busy as families take advantage of the long weekend. Gatwick Airport is preparing around 350,000 people who will jet off for a short break - Friday is expected to have the most passengers with over 97,000 passengers expected.

The most popular european destination city will be Malaga with Orlando being the busiest long haul city.

Gatwick Security measures

BAA have recently employed more security staff are employed and hopefully bank holiday passengers will begin to see the benefits as passengers move faster through security.

Remember to plan your packing ahead and ensure that any liquids carried in hand baggage do not exceed 100ml. These items must be presented separately at security in a resealable plastic bag measuring no more than 20cm by 20cm.

There was a threat of industrial action affecting aircraft refuelling at Gatwick over the bank holiday but this action has been called off .
