Eastern European music festival announced

One of the largest music festivals in the Baltic region is set to take place in Lithuania in August.

Organisers of the Be2Gether festival - which is due to take place between August 24th and 26th - hope that the music festival will encourage tourists to visit this often neglected region of Europe.

Andrius Mamontovas, one of the country's most famous musicians explained: "For many years we were isolated from the world, and even after the fall of the iron curtain the Berlin wall in people's minds still separates western and eastern Europe.

"Be2Gether festival will be a huge blow to that wall."

Acts lined up to play at the event - which will take place by a 16th century castle - include Morcheeba, Bloodhound Gang, the Young Knives and Datarock.

Furthermore, the organisers have arranged that a host of local musicians will play, in the hope that the music can raise awareness about the culture of the region.

Finally, DJs like DJ Food and DK, Alex Gopher, Metal on Metal and Boogaloo will keep revellers dancing until the small hours.

"People come together to socialise, meet new friends, simply have fun," explained organiser Giedrius Klimkevicius.
