New Nottingham-Pakistan link prepares to launch
A new service linking Nottingham East Midlands airport to Pakistan will launch this week.
A new service between Nottingham East Midlands airport (EMA) and Pakistan will launch this week and the hub has organised a special celebration to mark the occasion.
The airport's check in hall will play a variety of forms of cultural music this Friday to see off the first passengers using the UK International Airlines (UKIA) flight.
Managers at the airport hope that the music will create a "vibrant and lively" atmosphere around the area as travellers prepare to board their flights.
Penny Coates, managing director of EMA, said: "This announcement is a fantastic endorsement of our first-class facilities here at the airport and is a real coup for everyone involved in developing this link to a new country.
"The service has generated positive interest so far and we are sure the people of the East Midlands region and beyond will make good use of this route."
The full UKIA service will offer twice-weekly flights to Islamabad via Sharjah, near Dubai, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
