Tel Aviv holiday

Low cost airline Jet2.com is launching new flights from Manchester airport to the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.

A weekly service from Manchester to Tel Aviv will start on Thursday May 21st. Jet2.com says it will be the only airline to offer a direct route from the north of the UK to Tel Aviv “following the demise of other services”.

The budget airline is also promising that it will offer the “lowest ever fares” from Manchester to Tel Aviv. Flights are now on sale with prices from £70.99 one way including taxes.

Jet2.com says it is so confident that the flights will be popular that it will launch a second weekly flight, departing on Sundays, from October.

“Tel Aviv is an extremely popular destination and we are confident there will be a huge demand for this service. As the only direct route from the North, we are in an unrivalled position to offer both the lowest ever fares and fastest service into Israel,” says Jet2.com boss, Philip Meeson.

“This route launch is extremely significant for Jet2.com and emphasises our drive to continue to innovate and expand our reach into a variety of countries and markets,” Meeson adds.

Tel Aviv is a cosmopolitan beach city with fine shopping, an outdoor café culture, buzzing nightlife and a historic old town. As well as proving a popular holiday destination, Jet2.com says Tel Aviv will also appeal to the Jewish community in the north.

Managing director of Israel Travel Service, Adrian Cohen, welcomes the new flights: “This welcome investment into tourism to Israel will undoubtedly be of benefit to the consumer and will strengthen the links between Manchester and Tel Aviv.”

Thomson Airways is currently offering flights from Manchester to Tel Aviv priced from £56.99 one way. The airline, then known as Thomsonfly, launched a three times a week service from Manchester to Tel Aviv in November 2007.

British Airways, El Al and bmi all offer flights from Heathrow airport to Tel Aviv. El Al and Israir also fly from Stansted to the Israeli city.
