As comfortable as you'd expect

It’s hard to knock the Premier Inn T5 Heathrow rooms. Despite being a budget hotel, the uniformly excellent suites make some four-star hotels look worn and drab. Decorated in the branded purple, with artwork on the walls, the rooms are as comfortable as you could ask for, and the bed is a joy to sleep in.

Far from just a bed and an en suite, the T5’s are rooms anything but sparse. You’ll get a desk with a lamp and powerpoints if you want to use your laptop. Handily, wifi is free for 30 minutes if you just want a quick look at your emails, whilst 24 hours costs just £3 if you want to spend the evening on Facebook. Elsewhere, there’s an open wardrobe with shelves and built-in hangers, plenty of space for your belongings. This wardrobe is also where you’ll find the infamous tea and coffee-making facilities, along with your extra pillows, towels and a small flatscreen TV with freeview channels. There’s even a comfy chaise longue, which we would have been happy to sleep on by itself!

The en suite is fairly basic, but has a bath with a shower above it so you can choose how you want to wash up. Instead of toilet roll and mini-toiletries, there are dispensers built into the walls. This may end the classic hobby of helping yourself to freebies, but at least you don’t have to worry about running short.

Re-arranging the rooms can produce space for two, three or four people. All the rooms come with the same double bed, but twins have an additional single bed, while family rooms have a camp bed as well. There are a small number of disabled rooms, which have a wet room/shower. Vibrating-alarm pillows are available from reception.
