Thyme is on your side

The Heathrow Terminal 5 Premier Inn may not have a selection of themed restaurants, but it does have a great bar serving the kind of down-to-earth food you’d find at your local. The Thyme restaurant is nicely decorated and separated off by walls and pillars so you can have an intimate meal with your travelling companions, no matter how busy the restaurant is. Not to mention, to say the prices are reasonable for an airport hotel would be an understatement.

The menu runs the gamut from tasty burgers and freshly prepared pizzas to slow-cooked duck confit and everything in between. We had a generous portion of a tasty chicken-liver pate to start. It was smooth, creamy and packed with lots of flavour. For our main, we had a functional burger with chips and coleslaw - very filling and very tasty, and the meat was of a good quality. The highlight of the meal was the service with the helpful and friendly staff paying particular attention to our needs.

All the hash browns you can eat

Once again, Premier Inn’s focus is value. Breakfast is an all-you-can-eat buffet of cooked options like creamy scrambled egg, enormous hash browns and juicy bacon, along with lighter options like cereal, toast and croissants. You can eat all you like at breakfast for £8.25, so we’d advise coming down with an appetite. If you’re in a rush, the hotel has a special deal with Costa cafe on site, letting you grab a coffee and a pastry for just £2.95.

Costa

The hotel has a full branch of Costa cafe in the lobby. All the regulars are available, from paninis and cakes to coffee and blended ice drinks. The cafe is open 24 hours a day, so you’ll never be caught without somewhere to eat or drink. If you’re in a rush, there are vending machines in the lobby too.
