Figures released from BAA have shown a significant increase in the number of long-haul flights taking place from the UK.
In the 12 months from June 2007, BAA reports that more than 70 million passengers passed through it seven UK airports. Heathrow Airport, which accounts for 46% of this total, noted an increase of 10.7% in travellers flying to long-haul destinations. A region seeing a particular increase in UK travellers was the North Atlantic.
