Passenger numbers rise at Aberdeen
Aberdeen Airport enjoyed an early boost to passenger numbers this spring. Travellers from the airport had increased by 1.6% on last April's figures.
Overseas travel is on the up at Aberdeen Airport with a 15% increase in international traffic compared to last year, with a rise of almost 21% in international fliers travelling from Aberdeen to destinations outside the European Union.
Airline Globespan have been instrumental in the increase of 88% of people opting to fly with a low cost airline from Aberdeen. Globespan's summer schedule of flights include Alicante, Barcelona and Faro.
Aberdeen Airport Managing Director Kevin Brown commented: “The airport performed particularly well last month and it’s terrific to see so many people taking advantage of the early launch of Globespan’s summer schedule....
I also welcome the news many of our airline partners’ UK services to destinations including Southampton, Manchester and Kirkwall are proving increasingly popular.”
