If you are picking up or dropping off passengers, some airports offer limited free parking but there is a charge at some airports so you need to check to be sure. For longer periods, there is no free parking. The only arguable exception is when you book a hotel stay with parking for the duration of your trip which can sometimes offer a deal so good that the saving effectively cuts the cost of airport parking to nothing.

The simple answer is yes. Airport parking does tend to get more expensive closer to the time, so we always recommend booking in advance (the earlier the better) to save yourself from unnecessary price jumps. At Gatwick for example, 1 weeks parking at Purple Parking Park and Ride, when booked in advance, can cost as little as £4.25 p/d, however when booked closer to the time of your departure date, it can cost around £14 p/d.

Most airports advise arriving at least 2 hours before your flight to allow plenty of time for check-in and getting through security. Giving yourself extra time also makes for a much more relaxing airport experience! Why not book an airport lounge for the ultimate stress-free start?
