Major engineering works are taking place between July 26th and September 7th on First Transpennine Express and Northern Rail services.

Affecting the lines between Chorley and Preston, services to and from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Carlisle, Windermere, Oxenholme (Lake District), Barrow-In-Furness, Blackpool North, Preston, Chorley, Bolton, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport are running to a revised timetable.

Manchester trains disrupted

There is a replacement bus service between Chorley and Preston. Services between Manchester and Preston are operating via an alternative route with trains not stopping at Chorley and a limited number not calling at Bolton.

Northern Rail are running an hourly train service between Bolton and Chorley along with an hourly replacement bus service.
