Luton airport is expecting a record number of passengers over the busy August Bank Holiday period.
Close to 150,000 passengers are expected to travel through the airport, an increase of 4% on the same period last year. The airport says the most popular destinations for a summer holiday are the south of France, mainland Spain and the Balearic and Canary Islands.
But the growth destinations from Luton this year are Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and Egypt. All these destinations are outside the euro zone and reflect holidaymakers' desire to get more for their money as the credit crunch and high fuel prices continue to bite.
With a constantly expanding network of routes now making up nearly 100 unique destinations, we continue to serve the requirements of both the business and leisure traveller. With the UK weather remaining poor we are delighted to offer the UK public an opportunity to at last see the sun, says Luton airport marketing director, Natalie Raper.
For passengers with early morning flights a stay at an airport hotel gives a few precious extra hours in bed. The 3 star Luton Ramada Hemel Hempstead is a convenient hotel for Luton airport, located within easy access of the M1 and M25 and only 7.5 miles from the airport.
The hotel is set in large landscaped grounds and has its own restaurant, leisure facilities and swimming pool where you can relax before or after your flight. Parking is at the hotel and there is free overnight parking available.
