Holiday Destinations for Couples

Fancy a romantic getaway?

Never beaten on price

Ah, just the two of you... whether you're in the first flush of romance, escaping for a rare child-free weekend, or just enjoying a grown-up break, we've found some fantastic holidays for couples across the globe.

Three's a Crowd

Nha Trang, Vietnam

Nha Trang, Vietnam

Unlike the classic Maldives/Seychelles tropical honeymoon destinations, Nha Trang in southern Vietnam is a lively party resort, and a great option for energetic couples loving life. Set against a stunning backdrop of rolling hills, the sweeping bay is home to almost 7km of white sand and a lovely promenade featuring sculpture gardens and parks, ideal for a stroll à deux. Further inland you'll find vibrant food markets, boutiques, restaurants and bars for a late night or two.

Excursions include the Po Nagar Cham Towers ruins dating back to between the 7th and 12th centuries, Ba Ho Waterfalls, a choice of hot springs and mud baths, and boat trips to explore the bay's many islands. The area is stuffed with luxury resorts, like Mia Resort and Evason Ana Mandara, where you can indulge in scuba diving, snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaking, tennis, beach volleyball, al fresco yoga, pampering spa treatments or reposing on a double lilo, cocktails in hands. Yes, please.

Fez, Morocco

Fez, Morocco

If you've got a taste for the exotic then Fez's (or Fes') unique sights, sounds and smells and enticing blend of new and old make it the perfect destination for a grown-up short break. This ancient city was once Morocco's capital and is still considered the country's cultural and spiritual hub.

Fes El Bali is the city's famous medieval walled medina: think atmospheric souks, labyrinthine passages, people everywhere, artisan workshops, bazaars selling spices, fresh fruit and hand-crafted goods as well as the historic Chaouwara leather tanneries, Kairaouine Mosque & University and the Royal Palace.

You will also want to explore Fez's old Jewish Quarter (mellah) and the Ville Nouvelle built by the French in the early 20th century. Definitely a colourful and adventurous alternative to Marrakesh or Istanbul. Be brave and jump in!

Try a deluxe room or suite at La Maison Bleue for an unforgettable taste of traditional Fassi luxury.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen, Denmark

Cool, compact Copenhagen is Denmark's capital, offering a most appealing mix of edgy creativity, cosiness, Scandi design, foodie innovation and Danish heritage. And bikes of course, there are bicycles everywhere.

We can't think of anywhere better for a pair of lovebirds to indulge in a spot of shopping (on Strøget in the heart of the city), dining (from bistros to Michelin stars) or to enjoy a well-earned beer (on the quayside in the restored port area Nyhavn).

Famous historic sights include the Rococo Royal Amalienborg Palace, the Christiansborg Palace parliament building and Renaissance Rosenborg Castle. Don't resist Tivoli Gardens either, one of the world's original amusement parks (even Walt Disney visited). For a piece of alternative history, get yourselves to freetown Christiania in Christianshavn - a hippy commune founded in 1971.

British Airways sells Copenhagen package holidays for couples.

Los Cabos, Mexico

Los Cabos, Mexico

Los Cabos (made up of San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas) on the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico is all-inclusive heaven. A man-made oasis in the Mexican desert, the resort is complete with 50 miles of irresistible beach, distinctive natural rock formations towering out of the azure seas, a serious culinary scene, high-end boutiques, raging bars and clubs, championship golf courses, along with a cathedral and quaint cobbled streets. Head to San José del Cabo for history and culture, Cabo San Lucas for partying. Or you may want to whisk your beloved to Lover's Beach for an intimate tryst - it's accessible only by boat.

All of this plus 350 sunny days a year attracts smoochy couples, golfers, sport fishing fans (it is the Marlin Capital of the World after all), whale watchers, spa-lovers and night owls from around the world.

Check out the super-luxurious One&Only Palmilla all-inclusive resort in San Jose Del Cabo.

Woodstock, Vermont

Woodstock, Vermont

For a complete change of pace, immerse yourselves in the classic New England destination of Woodstock, a very beautiful, historic and privileged Vermont community perched on the banks of the Ottauquechee River.

As you take in the grand houses, stylish boutiques, eclectic eateries and idyllic American landscapes you can positively smell the Rockefeller and Rothschild old money. Yet, the state also has a proud and endearing tradition of creativity and independence. Outdoorsy, food and drink-loving couples will warm to its farmers' markets, craft breweries and endless opportunities for skiing, hiking, cycling, golfing and kayaking. This charming region is glorious in lush summertime, red-hued fall and winter snowfall alike. Spring isn't bad, either!

We would book a double room at new hotel On the River Inn<> or The Jackson House Inn for a dreamy couples' holiday.
