A new holiday booking and travel advice website is being launched for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
PlanitGay.com aims to make it easy for the lesbian and gay community to find and book gay friendly holidays. Users will be able to search for flights with all the major and low cost airlines, as well as for hotels, cruises and package holidays that are approved as LGBT friendly.
Hotels, restaurants, clubs, bars and other venues will be able to have individual pages on the site, but must update them at least once a month. Creator of the site Reside International claims this is a unique feature that will ensure travellers don't suffer the inconvenience of visiting venues that have gone out of business.
"From my own travel searches I saw there was a gap in the market for a travel website for the gay and lesbian community worldwide," says founder and MD of Reside International, Richard Cruise. "PlanitGay.com will make it easier than ever for LGBT travellers to have fantastic holidays affordably and safely."
The website is launching simultaneously in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch, making it the first truly global LGBT travel portal says Reside.
There will be local rate phone numbers in the UK, USA, France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands so that users can get help finding information and making bookings.
PlanitGay says it plans to be a fully bonded travel agent before the website launches and is also seeking Travel Trade Association approval. Part of the profits from the new company will go to the Terence Higgins Trust and the Elton John Aids Foundation.
