Fred Olsen Cruise Lines announced that it will be operating two more fly/cruise departures from the airport in 2009/10.

Thee new departures from Durham Tees Valley airport illustrate the company's commitment to supporting flights from regional airports and reflects the successful sales of the first fly/cruise that will depart from the airport later this year.

John Atkinson, Area Sales Executive for Fred. Olsen in the North East said “We have had such a great response from customers in Durham and Tees Valley, and are delighted to be offering more departures for 2009/10”.

The planned fly/cruises will depart Durham Tees Valley airport for Miami on 07 January 2010 and 11 March 2010 both will be 14 night cruises. The first cruise will be a fantastic ‘Caribbean Adventure’ on board the liner Braemar. Ports of call include: Bahamas, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Honduras, Belize, Mexico and Key West, Florida, the ship returns to the UK on 22 January.

The second fly/cruise, is a ‘Caribbean Cocktail’ on board Boudicca, passengers will join the ship in St Lucia. Ports of call include Dominica, St Kitts, Antigua, Tortola, Turks & Caicos, Jamaica, Trinidad, Tobago and Barbados, arriving back at Durham Tees Valley airport on 26 March 2010.

“There’s no doubt that being able to fly direct from their local airport is very popular with North East cruise passengers. For example this year’s flight to Barbados, which is scheduled to leave to leave on December 4th, sold out very rapidly and we’re expecting a similar response to the two 2010 holidays just announced." commented Emma Ormerod of Durham Tees Valley.
