Liverpool John Lennon Airport and low cost airline Ryanair celebrated two decades of working together on 20 May.
The first Ryanair passengers flew from Liverpool to Dublin in May 1988. The airline now operates 38 routes from the airport and expects to carry more than two million passengers this year.
Since 1988, over 9 million passengers in Liverpool have chosen Ryanair's lowest fares and No.1 punctuality. Passengers prefer Ryanair because only Ryanair guarantees the lowest fares, guarantees no fuel surcharges ever, and delivers savings of more than £30m annually," said Ryanair's Bridget Dowling.
To mark the occasion, Ryanair is offering 100,000 one-way seats for £5 on their website. The airline sustains 2,000 local jobs and claims to generate a tourism spend of over £100m in the Merseyside region.
