Virgin Atlantic launched its second service between London Heathrow and Hong Kong on October 28th, 2008. The new flights, from one of the world's largest long-haul airlines, will run daily from December 8th to complement the current schedule.

The first Virgin Atlantic flight between Heathrow and Hong Kong started in 1994, carrying an amazing 2.4 million passengers on this service ever since. The added service will allow twice as many passengers to travel this route, improving the direct service as well as links to Australia and the Far East.

The Airbus A340-600 will take the passengers between the two airports, with flights operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays before the daily service on December 8th, 2008. The VS238 service will leave Heathrow Terminal 3 for Hong Kong at 4pm, arriving at 12.30pm the next day.

Chief Executive of Virgin Atlantic, Steve Ridgeway, said "This second daily service will offer our passengers even more opportunities via Hong Kong, which is the third busiest long-haul route out of Heathrow after New York’s JFK and Dubai."

We have long dreamed of adding another service to this ever-popular route, particularly since the launch of Sydney flights in 2004, and are thrilled to see it become a reality. We would like to offer a big thank you to the Hong Kong Airport authorities for helping to make this extra service possible."
