A budget airline and a budget accommodation website have teamed up to help cash-strapped travellers find somewhere to stay.

easyJet and HostelWorld.com have got together to bring HostelWorld's range of hostels, B&Bs and guest houses within reach of the millions of passengers who fly with easyJet every year.

HostelWorld, which is based in Dublin, offers accommodation at more than 20,000 properties in 170 countries, all of which are going on sale at www.easyJet.com.

Customers will be able to see photos, maps and reviews from previous guests.

They will pay a 10 per cent deposit when they book and the rest when they arrive at the hostel.

easyJet spokesman Andrew McConnell said: "This makes the process of finding safe, good value accommodation simple.

"It could not have come at a more appropriate time, since in the current economic climate people are constantly looking for ways to save money on their travels without compromising on quality."

And if you thought hostels were just for impoverished backpackers, think again, said Mr McConnell.

"Hostels are now the accommodation of choice for people of all ages," he said.

"Many offer private rooms, ensuite bathrooms, free internet access, pools, bars and restaurants along with a unique social experience and excellent locations.

"HostelWorld's range of B&Bs throughout Europe offers customers the opportunity to book into a more traditional type of lodgings while they explore their holiday destination."

Chief executive Andy Harrison added: "It is wonderful to have Hostelworld on board with easyJet.

"The partnership will strengthen our ongoing commitment to providing excellent value travel products."
