The lights at Luton airport are being switched off this Saturday in support of Earth Hour.
The airport will be one of millions of buildings across the globe where the lights will be off from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
It will switch off some lights in arrivals and departures, the illuminated airport logo and the signs outside departures and arrivals.
Earth Hour started in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights.
Last year 50 million people took part, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Coliseum in Rome, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square stood in darkness.
Luton airport took steps last year to reduce its energy consumption, such as making the lighting sensors in the terminal more energy efficient.
It also launched its community engagement strategy, which sets out how it plans to help improve the environment in Luton and the surrounding area before 2012.
