Heathrow unveils new fire station facility
The world's busiest international airport has unveiled a new £4 million facility providing the airport's 108 fire officers with significantly improved facilities and quicker access to the runways.
Airport Fire Manager Nathan Deverell said: "The new fire station has been designed to meet our current and future needs as Heathrow continues its transformation. We are proud of the service we have provided Heathrow over the past 60 years and look forward to serving the airport from our new home."
The fate of the former station, which had operated for 30 years, involves its demolition to make way for the construction of the new terminal facility, Heathrow East.
