Baggage Allowance

You should check with your airline as to what time you should check in. Dublin airport advises passengers to get there a minimum of 90 minutes before their flight – we would say even earlier if you can. Check-in opens up to three hours before long-haul flights, up to two hours before European flights and up to 90 minutes before flights within the UK and Ireland.

Some airlines now allow self-check-in using the kiosks in the terminal, or online check-in, which means you can head straight to security when you get to the airport after dropping any hold luggage off at the bag drop.

There are two terminals at Dublin airport. All Ryanair flights leave from terminal 1, which is also used by British Airways, Flybe, Iberia, Lufthansa, Air Canada, Air Southwest, SWISS, Cityjet, SAS, Norwegian, Turkish Airlines, Aer Arann, Air Baltic, Adria Airways, Air Transat, Blue Air, Germanwings, Luxair and Cimber Sterling. Check-in is on the first floor.

All Aer Lingus flights leave from terminal 2, which is also used by Emirates, American Airlines, Delta, United, US Airways and Etihad Airways. Check-in is on the ground floor: Aer Lingus uses areas 29 to 56, while the other airlines use areas 1 to 28.

Baggage allowance

The airport’s own advice is to bring just one item of hand luggage, but you should check your hand and hold baggage allowance with your airline.

Liquids, pastes and gels must be in containers of 100ml or less if you are going to carry them in your hand luggage. Larger containers must be packed in your hold luggage. Liquids in your hand luggage must be taken out and carried through security in a clear, resealable 20cm x 20cm plastic bag. Baby food, baby milk and medicine you will need during the flight are exempt from the 100ml rule.
