More good news for holidaymakers - airport parking prices are down 30% on last year
Since the government announced the big list of quarantine-exempt travel destinations on July 3rd it seems that everyone has jumped to book their holiday - our research shows that 57% of UK travellers said they were more likely to book a trip once "air bridges" or the new quarantine solution were in place.
And once they've booked a holiday, travellers inevitably look to all the extras they need to go with the trip - fun things like beach towels and sunglasses, as well as all the necessities like travel insurance and parking space at the airport while they're away. The good news is, according to analysis by the UK's largest provider of airport parking Holiday Extras, the price to park at the airport has fallen almost 30% since last year - from an average of £8.26 per night this time in 2019 to just £6.39 today. This is likely to increase as car parks fill.

Seamus McCauley, Editor at Holiday Extras, commented:
"Most of us are hoping to get away now that lockdown has eased and holidays are back on. 52% of people who flew last year tell us they're planning to fly again in 2020, and another 42% say they plan to fly next year."
"Covid precautions are on everyone's minds as things start to reopen, and driving yourself to the airport is one of the simplest ways to limit your exposure on the way. As the government says, we should avoid public transport, especially in rush hour, if we can."
"So we're glad to report that people who want to park their car at the airport can do so more cheaply than ever. Currently prices are down 30% on last year - so if you've booked a holiday this summer or even for next year we'd recommend booking your parking as soon as you can while prices are low."
Book your holiday extras early
It pays to book your airport parking, airport hotel or your lounge as soon as you book your flights. Prices usually go up nearer the date you fly, and last year Holiday Extras saved our airport parking customers £100 each on average when they pre-booked their airport parking instead of paying on the day.
