Baggage Allowance

Check-in desks at Humberside airport generally open two to three hours before the flight is due to leave. You should check with your airline when you need to arrive, but in general, we’d advise getting to the airport with two hours to spare. It’s worth knowing too that there are roadworks for at least the rest of this year on the A18 around the bridge at Melton Ross, so you might want to leave extra time for your journey.

Baggage allowance

Allowances for both hand and hold luggage vary between airlines, so you should check with your airline how much you’re allowed to take. Don’t forget that liquids, gels and pastes are only allowed in hand luggage if they are in containers of 100ml or less, and must be carried through security in a clear resealable 20cm x 20cm plastic bag. Otherwise, they need to be packed in your hold luggage. Of course, you can buy drinks and toiletries after you’ve gone through security.

If you need more than 100ml of medicine on the plane, that’s fine, but you’ll need to get permission from the airline first and bring a letter from your doctor. As much liquid baby food, baby milk or sterilised water as you need can also be taken through airport security. Large musical instruments are allowed as an extra item of hand luggage, while laptops and large electrical items will need to be taken out of your hand luggage and screened separately.
