As well as spacious rooms and just a short hop to the airport in the morning, the hotel caters to seasoned travellers who are on the lookout for a hotel that gives just that little bit extra. How about a free newspaper in the morning, and free wifi throughout? Not enough? Well, the hotel also has a florist, a news stand, a cashpoint, baggage storage, dry cleaning service, overnight laundry and safety deposit boxes. Best of all, you can’t fail to be impressed by the hotel's dedication to a friendly, welcoming service.

If you want to get your romantic getaway off to an early start, the Hilton hotel Heathrow at Terminal 5 takes some beating; from unique, stylish bars to the remarkable Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen restaurant. If, on the other hand, you’re jetting off with the family, the hotel also has good-sized family rooms, grounds to explore, a big family-friendly Gallery restaurant and neat little extras like a children’s check-in and ducks for the bath. When you're completely unwound, you can pamper yourself further with a nail bar, cooling leg and foot treatments, waxing or a make up session. While a number of the treatments at the Hilton terminal 5 spa are free, the Heathrow Hilton T5 offers a 20% discount to in-house guests for chargeable treatments from Monday to Thursday when available.

Work up a sweat at Hilton T5 gym

If your prefer working out to winding down, the hotel's fitness centre offers a cardio work out, resistance training or weight lifting. A personal trainer can be booked to advise you on work outs and how to get the best out of the equipment. The fitness centre is free to guests and open from 6.30am to 9.30pm

By choosing this hotel, you can avoid paying any extra ULEZ charges. What's ULEZ? The aim is to reduce air pollution in London by encouraging more sustainable methods of transport. It costs £12.50 a day for high-emission cars that don't meet ULEZ requirements to drive through the zone, making this hotel a great option if your car isn't ULEZ-compliant.

Getting to the airport

The Heathrow Hoppa shuttle bus runs regularly during the airport's opening hours - the times depend on your terminal and the hotel. Hoppa tickets cost from £6.80 per person one way and £12 per person return. Up to two children under 15 travel free with a paying adult.

Alternatively, taxis from the hotel run to all terminals when needed. The journey time and price depends on traffic and which terminal you're travelling to.

For T1, T2, T3 and T4 it's around 15 to 20 minutes and for T5 it's 10 minutes. Taxi prices are from £30.

Or the 703 Green Line bus service stops a 10-minute walk from the hotel (Conbrook Ye Olde George stop) and will take you to Terminal 5 in less than 10 minutes. Tickets cost from £1 one way and pick up and drop off at Terminal 5 is from Wallis Road, Terminal 5 Arrivals.

Additionally, the number 5 bus service stops a short walk from the hotel at Poyle Golden Cross and also takes you to Terminal 5.

Travelling to the hotel by train? The nearest station is Heathrow Terminal 5.

Rooms have king-size beds, free wifi and quadruple-glazed windows for a quiet night. Newspapers are provided during the week. Guests say that the rooms are clean and spacious and that the beds are firm, some rooms also offer views of Windsor Castle. Bathrooms are spacious and modern, with a deep-fill bath, a power shower, mood lighting and surround sound. Triple rooms and family rooms have a king-size bed and sofa bed. Child age 17 and under.

Restaurants

The Gallery – 6.30pm to 10.30pm

The restaurant overlooks the hotel lobby and uses local, seasonal ingredients that are traditionally British, like an organic beef burger, London ale battered haddock fillet. Food is cooked to your liking and the staff can advise on dietary requests. There's a children's menu, too.

Musettis Coffee Shop – 6am to 6pm

Serves sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Find Musettis coffee bar and soft, leather armchairs on the ground floor of the hotel.

Bars

The River Bar – 11am to 11pm

The River Bar has a view of the River Thames, hence the name and the London theme. Expect seafood from London's fish markets, London ale in the fish and chip batter and London honey in the salad dressing. Burgers and BBQ chicken wings come from a London meat market and the vegetables are from Covent Garden.

The bar is a long, high-ceilinged room with chandeliers overhead and clean, sleek lines. A colourful light show illuminates the rows of spirits and floor-to-ceiling glass looks over the River Thames. Wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks are served here.

The Gallery Bar – 11am to 11pm

Cocktails, non-alcoholic mocktails, wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks in a softly-lit room with muted decor.

Breakfast

The Gallery Restaurant – 6.30am to 10.30am

It's a continental (£16.95) and full English (£20.95) buffet for breakfast. Our guests praise the variety of food on offer and the attentive waiting staff. Save £5 per person by booking the full English buffet the night before. There's also a breakfast menu of eggs made-to-order, an omelette station, smoked fish, fresh pancake stacks and cereals.

Things to do

From 29th August 2023 London's Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) will expand to include Heathrow. This hotel is located outside of this zone. However, you may need to pay the daily ULEZ charge when driving to the hotel – make sure you check before you travel.
