The terminal at Heraklion Airport was expanded and modernised in 2018 to increase the amount of arrivals and departures gates and help with the busy flow of passengers passing through. There are also plenty of useful facilities to help keep your airport experience a pleasant one, whether that's a little light shopping in duty-free, a bit to eat in one of the restaurants or relaxing in the airport lounge.

You'll need to head to the main road outside the airport for a bus station, but there is a route that runs between the airport and the centre of Heraklion which takes around 20 minutes. Please be aware that a lot of the buses are unable to accept card payments, so it's always worth keeping some cash on hand should you need a ticket.

The taxi drop-off/pick-up area is just outside the terminal with taxis operating 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week so regardless of your flight time you should have no trouble getting a taxi.
