Driving to Dublin airport
Dublin airport is just over six miles from the city centre, within easy reach of two motorways - the M1 and the M90. No matter which of the two terminals youre headed for, accessing the airport by car is simple. Check the directions from close to your starting point below:
- Galway and the west Take the M6 until it merges with the M4, then follow that to the next merge with the M50 and with the M1 after that. As you pass around the edge of Dublin, youll start seeing signs for the airport. Youll end up on the E01/M1 - exit at junction 2 towards the terminals.
- Limerick Follow the M7 to the outskirts of Dublin, where it will merge with the M50. From there, youll take the same route as above.
- Cork Head up the M8 until the road merges with the M7, and then carry on as you would from Limerick above.
Youll be clearly signposted to the terminal you need from the entrance. For your reference or sat nav, the airport is on Swords Road - remember that there are no postcodes outside of Dublin city centre.

Dublin airport: parking
Make sure youve allowed enough time to reach the airport and make your way to a car park. All short-term car parks at Dublin airport will cost you 3 (approx. £2.60) for the first hour, then 4.50 (approx. £3.90) per extra hour up to a maximum charge of 40 (approx. £34.50).*
- Terminal 1 Short-Term car park C 1,500 spaces just a four-minute walk from Terminal 1. Theres a 1.85-metre vehicle height restriction at the entrance.
- Terminal 2 Short-Term car park This car park has 950 spaces and a 2.1-metre height restriction. It takes a few minutes to get to Terminal 2 via a covered walkway.
- Short-Term car park A At an equal distance between both terminals, this short-term car park is also a great option and has 400 spaces. A 1.85-metre height restriction applies for vehicles.

Public transport from Dublin airport
Dublin is one of the most well-connected airports for onward travel by public transport. If youre not being picked up at arrivals, you have plenty of choices at any time of day.
All of the following options are available from the airport:
- Train. Theres no direct train service to and from the airport, but with such good connections its easy to get to one. Bus routes from Dublin airport serve local stations such as Heuston and Connolly, and you can always hop in a taxi.
- Bus and coach. Over 1,000 buses and coaches serve Dublin airport every day, so whether youre making a short or longer trip therell be an available route. Simply follow signs for the relevant zone when you exit either terminal.
- Taxi. Taxis can be found and hailed from the forecourt directly outside both terminals. A typical trip into Dublin city centre will cost around 25 (appx £22).
