Three-star comfort at a budget price

Enjoy three-star hotel facilities at super-value prices with a stay at the Britannia Lodge – a popular Gatwick airport hotel that's often full, so book early! The Britannia Lodge is in the grounds of the Europa hotel, which is just off the M23 - and only five miles from Gatwick’s terminals. The 42 rooms in the annexe building are clean and bright with new furniture and crisp bedlinen, and best of all guests of the Lodge enjoy access to all of the Europa's three-star facilities, including a restaurant, bar and one of the most delightful swimming pools we've seen.

The annexe building itself – converted from the former staff quarters of the main block – is a pretty no-frills affair, but guests are able to take advantage of all the Europa hotel’s facilities, including secure onsite parking and a fully-equipped gym, swimming pool and health club. Britannia guests can also make use of the Mediterranee restaurant at breakfast and dinner, and Rafters Bar for drinks and bar meals, meaning the Britannia Lodge offers exceptional value for money.

Our customers rated Britannia Lodge on average 7/10 (76 reviews). Read Britannia Lodge reviews.

We recommend the Britannia for:

Canny bargain hunters - stay in a simple room at a great-value price, but with the benefits of an adjacent 3-star hotel on your doorstep.

Easy parking - the hotel has its own secure onsite parking and is situated an easy 15-minute bus or taxi ride from the airport terminals.

A spot of indulgence - take a dip in the pool, relax in the sauna and steam rooms, or work up a sweat in the well-equipped gym. However you choose to indulge yourself, it’s all on site!

  • Practical, budget-friendly hotel
  • Delicious buffet-style restaurant
  • Relaxed, friendly bar
  • Access to Europa's Health Club pool, sauna and gym

Within the grounds of the Europa hotel, guests of the Britannia can make full use of both hotel's facilities, including the big pool, hot tub, sauna and gym. You can also use the Europa's bar and restaurant, complete with a great value buffet-style carvery. A convenient way to start your trip!

Getting to the airport

The Britannia Lodge is in the grounds of the Europa. The rooms at the lodge are slightly smaller than those in the Europa, but that's the only difference as all the facilities are shared.

The Britannia Lodge is about a 15-minute drive to both North and South terminals.

A taxi to the airport costs:

Standard car: £17.50
6-seat car: £20.00
8-seat mini bus: £30.00

All options include a £5 airport drop-off fee. Book yours with reception when you arrive.

Check-in from 4pm. Check-out by 10am.

The hotel offers free, overnight parking on-site if you need it.

This package doesn't include parking while you're away. If you need parking for the duration of your trip, search for an airport hotel with parking package instead.

Rooms at the Britannia are compact but practical, with everything you need to unwind and relax before your trip.

Rooms include:

  • Tea and coffee
  • TV
  • En suite bathroom
  • Hair dryer
  • Phone

Triple rooms include 3 single beds and quad rooms include 1 double bed and 1 bunk bed, suitable for 2 adults and 2 children 14 and under. Family rooms include 1 double bed and 3 single beds, suitable for 2 adults and 3 children 14 and under.

Wifi is free in the Europa's lobby, where you'll need to check-in. It doesn't reach the rooms but there is 4G coverage.

There are no accessible rooms at the Britannia Lodge so we'd recommend staying at the sister Europa hotel, in the same grounds.

Mediterranean Restaurant – 6.30pm to 9.30pm

In the Europa, fill your boots with the restaurant's buffet-style carvery, which is served everyday. They also have a salad bar, soups and a tempting selection of desserts to choose from.

Also in the Europa, the bar serves a range of soft drinks, beer, wines and spirits, as well as light lunches and snacks.

Mediterranean Restaurant – 7am to 9.30am

Fuel up before your flight with the English and continental breakfast options served in the Mediterranean restaurant.
