Sunny Benidorm has much to offer holidaymakers of every kind. Unsurprisingly, this resort city's biggest draw is its warm weather, beautiful beaches and inviting Mediterranean waters. While the former is all but assured, the latter are guaranteed – and free.

Premium beaches

For many, the chance to relax and play on a soft-sanded beach and splash around in warm waters is all that's needed to make a great holiday. To that end, Benidorm has two excellent Blue Flag Beaches: Poniente and Levante, both of which are spotlessly clean and feature nearby toilets, cafés, fast-food restaurants and much more.

Parquet de Elche

Situated at the edge of the north-eastern section of Poniente Beach is Elche Park. This tranquil urban oasis is perfect for watching the world go by while the kids let off steam on the play area facilities.

Balcón del Mediterráneo

Who doesn't appreciate a good view? Balcón del Mediterráneo is located at the pinnacle of a coastal promontory that divides the beaches of Poniente and Levante. From here, you'll have wonderful views of both beaches as they stretch out either side of you, as well as the expanse of the Mediterranean Sea that lies ahead of you. If there's anywhere in Benidorm that makes a truly great place for family photographs, it's this picturesque vantage point.

Parque de l'Aigüera

In the centre of the city is L'Aigüera Park, a long, expansive strip of green that bisects Benidorm's old and modern sections. It features two amphitheatres that are often used to put on free shows and cultural events. The uppermost area of the park is frequently the site for a fairground and a range of festivals that run throughout the year.

Benidorm on a bike

An excellent way of getting around Benidorm affordably, and covering a lot of ground quickly, is by taking advantage of the city's many bike hire outlets. There's usually a wide choice of cycles available to suit all ages and preferences – and prices are typically inexpensive. Cycling in and around Benidorm will allow you to avoid traffic jams, enjoy more than 30 miles' worth of tailored lanes and take advantage of nearly 50 cycle routes. What's more, cycling is a great way to boost your family's fitness while taking in the province's sights.
