Illetas

Three beaches make up Illetas' coastal offerings – the main one, Playa de Ses Illetes, is bordered by Cala Oli and Cala Comtessa. These smaller coves are surrounded by rocky islets and have a pine tree backdrop. There are also a couple of beach clubs for sophisticated evenings with a cocktail.

Cala Estellencs

An ideal place for seclusion, Cala Estellencs is a small stony beach – so bring flip flops! – with a tranquil atmosphere. It's a short hike down rocky cliffsides to get to the beach, but, once you're there, it's well worth it. The water is clear and clean, so diving, snorkelling and swimming are recommended. Linger for the evening – you'll be rewarded with a stunning sunset.

Playa de Palma

This stretch of beach is flanked by turquoise Mediterranean waters on one side and a verdant outcrop on the other, with restaurants, cafés and bars just beyond this. As the capital's beach, it's a popular destination, but that means there's loads to do: try stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking from some of the many companies offering lessons.

Cala Formentor

In northwest Majorca, Cala Formentor is almost a kilometre of soft, white sand. Its landscape is hard to beat: pine forests line the shore and there are views to the mountains across sparkling tides. You can rent pedalos here and get out onto the ocean or try windsurfing too.

Playa de Alcúdia

A varied scenery makes this beach a true beauty spot. Palm trees here, forests there, and towering mountain views mean you'll be paddling in a photo-worthy haven. Wander along the boardwalk for bars and places to eat, hire a paddle boat or have a game of volleyball on the shore.
