Top Adventure Holidays in Tenerife

A holiday in Tenerife is ideal for relaxing on the beach, enjoying leisurely dinners and slowly strolling through cobbled streets. Sometimes, however, it's good to embrace the more daring side of the island. From quad bikes to mountainous treks, we've put together our top adventure holidays in Tenerife for you to consider. Another thing to bear in mind is to book one of our reliable airport transfers before you head over.

Guided quad tours

Put pedal to the metal and try out a guided quad tour in the Tenerife wilderness. Traverse Teide National Park through winding paths and pine forests – your legs will get a workout on the steeper bits! There's also a wine and forest themed tour which includes a 40-minute vineyard visit as well as a stop at a finca with a wine cellar – the perfect accompanying refreshment.

Paragliding

There are a few companies offering paragliding in Tenerife. If you fancy soaring through the air, you can opt for a standard flight that's suitable for beginners, a high-performance tandem flight where you can have a go at piloting the glider or – for real adrenaline junkies – an acrobatic tandem flight where your instructor will do all kinds of head-spinning tricks.

Jet skiing

Jet skiing is a popular Tenerife adventure activity, thanks to the island's range of beaches and still waters that beg to be disrupted. Jet skiing safaris take you to the island's volcanic coast, Palm-Mar's caves and the hippie beach. You can also go on jet ski tours that whisk you past towering cliffs and mysterious coves where you can stop for a spot of snorkelling too.

Scuba diving

Tenerife's clear, calm seas are the perfect place to scuba dive. Companies across the island offer different experiences, from introductory PADI scuba diving courses to private outings where you can see wrecks, reefs and hordes of colourful sea life. There are also some night dives to view the ocean floor from a totally different perspective.

Trekking

With its undulating landscape and beautiful nature spots, Tenerife is the place to be for hiking enthusiasts. Choose a guided tour to the Antequera bay through subtropical vegetation before a rewarding swim, or a nine-hour mountain-to-ocean trek from Santiago del Teide to the towering cliffs of Los Gigantes. To spend time in the wild but also socialise, some companies do hiking and dinner (with wine) combos.
