New Amsterdam-Portland Service Announced
KLM has announced a new route between Amsterdam and Portland, Oregon in the US, which will be operated by the Dutch carrier and its partner Northwest Airlines.
Scheduled to launch on March 30th next year, the connection will use Airbus A330 aircraft and offer a link between cities throughout Europe and the Pacific north-west.
European fliers will also have the opportunity to travel beyond Portland with Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, other partners of KLM and Northwest.
The daily non-stop service is part of the joint initiative between KLM and Northwest to offer a committed service to the North American market.
Portland will be the 20th North American destination served by the partnership out of Amsterdam Schiphol airport and will bring the total number of transatlantic flights operated by the airlines to 257.
Flights from the Dutch capital will depart in the morning, while the return flight will leave Oregon in the afternoon, a schedule which, according to KLM, offers "excellent connections" with European, Indian and African services.
