If you buy a Bono Bus ticket which costs around €12 for several trips, you can save 30% to 50% of the fare. Or, you could use the taxi service, which is great value too and costs around €1.50 per km.

Food and drink

If you still love your home comforts on holiday, a full English breakfast in Tenerife will usually cost you between €1.90 and €3.50. However, if you fancy more local food, you could try some grilled meat or fish with papas arrugadas. You can also try some local beers which are incredibly cheap too, for example Tenerife's own Dorada beer. Pints usually cost no more than €2 and wine, as little as €3.

Activities

Take a trip to the Thai-themed water park, Siam Park, which is known across Europe for its thrilling water slides. Tickets cost €50 per person. Or, you could go whale and dolphin watching off the south west coast, excursions cost between €20 and €60 per person.

However, if you want to save some cash you could head to one of the many beaches, with Tenerife boasting a coastline of over 400km. If you fancy a more secluded beach away from the main tourist areas, try Playa del Pozo in Las Palmas. For breath-taking views you can hike around Mount Teide National Park and observe Mount Teide, a volcano and the highest mountain peak in Spain. It's completely free too.
