How Expensive is it to travel in Rome?

The largest of the Balearic Islands packs an appropriately big punch with its range of things to do and see. But how much money do you need for a day in Majorca? That depends on what's on your itinerary. We've done some sums below to give you a realistic expectation about how much cash you'll need. Don't forget to factor in our reasonably priced airport transfers. Choose a private car or shared shuttle bus to take you straight to your accommodation.

Food

You can run the gamut of cuisine in Majorca. Treat yourself to a Michelin experience at Simply Fosh in Palma where local ingredients made into fresh Mediterranean fare – sure to be an amazing dining experience. For something more wallet-friendly, Restaurant D'alt Des Coll in Bunyola serves up mountain views alongside tapas and local dishes. You can also enjoy cheap and cheerful grub at the likes of Santa Ponsa's Tuck Inn and Alcúdia's Lloyd's Chippy.

Travel

Getting around in Majorca can be relatively inexpensive. Take the bus to save cash – single fares are about €1.50 for urban zones and the night bus (plus, invest in a Bonobus card to save between 30% and 50% on tickets). The price to hire a car varies – pre-book online for the best deals, but renting one on the day ranges from €40-€70 per day. Cycling is a big draw, too, and you can get a basic bike for about €10-€15 or a high-end one for €20-€30.

Activities

In Majorca, the best activities come free of charge. Check out stretches of beaches all over the island, from the quiet seclusion of Cala Tuent to the buzzing vibes on Bahía de Alcúdia. A jog or a stroll along the coastal paths taking you from town to town is another pleasant inexpensive activity. You can also try a host of watersports: a snorkelling, diving or kayaking trip all hover around the €40-€50 mark. Aqualand El Arenal waterpark costs around €30 for adults and €12-€21 for kids, while Safari Zoo in Porto Cristo is around €12-€19.
