How Holiday Extras helps you pick the best meet and greet parking at every airport

How to avoid the rogue car parks, the cowboys and the muddy fields miles from the airport.

Holiday Extras is the largest and longest-established provider of holiday extras in the UK - airport parking, airport hotels, lounges, travel insurance and more. For 40 years we've been looking after our customers' cars while they go travelling, and in 2019 we looked after more than 3 million.

Meet and Greet parking is one of the most hassle-free ways to park your car at the airport. Holiday Extras is proud to have parked 600,000 meet & greet customers' cars with a whopping 93% of them saying they would book it again.

So we know how to avoid rogue meet and greet operators. Here's how:

1. Make sure there's someone to talk to

First and foremost, make sure there's someone on the end of the phone who you trust to look after your car, and who you think will look after you in the unlikely event something goes wrong. Anyone can set up a website and claim to be a parking company, so if you're at all concerned that your car might not be looked after, get in touich with them and check. At Holiday Extras our award-winning contact centre is available 9am to 8pm and you can always contact us here.

2. Check for photos and videos of the parking service you're buying

We've visited, reviewed, photographed and filmed most of the car parks, hotels and lounges on our website, which means if you're booking through us, more often than not you can see what we've seen when we went to check them out. Have a look at the website and see if there's evidence the company you're dealing with has visited the car parks they're offering and checked them out.

3. Check for an approved operator scheme

If the airport you're flying from uses an approved operator scheme for meet and greet parking, check that the parking service you've chosen is on the list. For example, Gatwick Airport has an approved operator scheme. All of the meet and greet providers that Holiday Extras uses are on that scheme, so you can book any of our suppliers with confidence.

4. Make sure you're leaving your keys with insured, professional drivers

All of the meet and greet companies we use are required to have fully insured, professional drivers. Before you leave your car with someone, check that your car will be insured the whole time it's in their care.
