Holiday activities for over 50's in Alicante

Alicante is an enticing destination, all clear, glimmering waters, golden beaches and interesting nooks and crannies to explore. There's a wealth of holiday activities for over 50's, and we're delighted to share some of our favourite examples. At Holiday Extras, we're dedicated to you enjoying your time away, so our airport transfers pick you up off the plane and drop you at your accommodation. This leaves you more time to pore over your itinerary and get your holiday started.

Soak up the history

Alicante really is an intriguing place to explore. Its intricate architecture extends from the baroque Town Hall – which has several exhibition rooms inside – to the 14th-century Santa María Basilica, the oldest church in the city. There's also the Alicante City Museum to stroll around and the Bullfighting Museum which hosts talks, screenings and exhibitions.

Take a tour

Sometimes it's more fun to let someone else share their knowledge with you. Alicante's tour scene is wide-ranging and always fascinating. For active excursions, book onto a city-wide guided walking tour (some are free of charge) to explore the lesser-known areas of Alicante. Food lovers should get tickets for a gourmet tour where you can sample delicacies throughout town or even cook with a professional chef.

Café culture

If you're not interested in the party scene, Alicante has some much-loved coffee shops instead. Try Sip and Wonder, which also puts on delicious brunches or Mandala Café for a relaxed atmosphere and outdoor seating. Ross Gelateria & Café serves up some cold treats too. They're all perfect locations to while away the hours and people watch over a cappuccino.

Get on your bike

You can rent bikes at places throughout the city, and the coastal paths between the area's small towns are generally fairly flat. A group Alicante highlights tour is informative and energising, and – for something a little easier – a downhill bike ride with knowledgeable guides takes the work out of pedalling. To give your legs even more of a break, look out for Segway tours of the city too.

At Holiday Extras we have lots of transfer options for you to choose from, including private cars and shared shuttle buses, so we can make sure your Alicante airport transfers are a stress-free experience. Rely on us to be there for you to get you from A to B.
