Getting around Alicante on a budget

A fancy hotel, fine dining and luxurious experiences are fine, but sometimes you just want (or need) to do things on a budget. Luckily, this is astoundingly easy to do in Alicante. There's so much to experience in and around the city that a wealth of inexpensive treats await you. We're more than happy to share our tips. Plus, with getting around Alicante on a budget in mind, our Alicante Airport transfers cater to all monetary needs. We've got shared shuttle buses, private shuttle buses and cars – so whatever you can budget for, we can provide.

Where to stay

Accommodation is often the most expensive part of any holiday, but finding a budget-friendly place to stay is relatively simple. Alicante has a number of cool hostels – some near the beach with pools, others in town with rooftop terraces. Cheaper than hotels, they're still perfectly placed to see the city's best bits. Adventurous types can also head to one of the nearby campsites, including Marjal Eco-Camping Resort in Crevillent or Camping Alicante Imperium in Villajoyosa.

Cheap eats

It's easy to save cash when it comes to Alicante's food. The city is renowned for its tapas bars, like D'Tablas Alicante or La Tasca Del Barrio, as well as super fresh seafood – try out Alma del Sur for an authentic culinary experience. The streets are also dotted with cute dessert places that won't break the bank, such as ice cream shops and gelateria Laneu Helados Frescos and Livanti Gelato di Sicilia.

Out and about

Alicante is so picturesque, wandering around the cobbled streets or sinking your toes into its golden sands won't ever feel like a chore. Free tours abound, like one that takes in the area's most iconic sites, or Enigmatic Alicante – a night-time walk to learn more about the city's dark history. Some of the museums and galleries are also free to enter, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Fogueres Festival Museum and the Bullfighting Museum. Of course, beach hopping, dipping in and out of the glimmering sea and relaxing on the shore is always free of charge.

At Holiday Extras, we're always excited to do our bit to reduce your budget woes. Whether it's a private shuttle car or a shared shuttle bus, you'll find an Airport transfer that suits you perfectly.
