The Britannia Stockport hotel is set in a quiet residential area close to Stockport town centre and is also just under 10 miles from Manchester airport, making this hotel the perfect choice for a peaceful stopover away from the airport noise. With comfortable en-suite rooms, a restaurant, cocktail bar and leisure facilities, the Britannia Stockport has everything you might need from one of our Manchester airport hotels and won't break the bank.

Not really. When booking the hotel and airport parking, it was not made clear, that we would be driving approx 15-30 minutes to another hotel to park the car and then catch the shuttle bus. We had seen that there was a 20-minute transfer to/from Manchester airport, which was misleading. In addition, the organisation of the transfer back to pick up our car was a disaster. We were given a number to ring because our arrival was at approx 11 pm and the transfer service was then operated by a taxi company, not Britannia. When we rang, they said it was scheduled timetable and that we would not be able to make the first available at 11 pm, because our we didn't have our bags yet. So we booked on the 11:45 shuttle. We then waited outside (about 5-minute walk) the terminal. At about 11:10 pm, we had our bags and had managed to get out. When we rang to check whether we can still make the 11 pm transfer, the operator said, the shuttle had left and we had to wait. I was also assured that they would ask our shuttle driver to come a little early. Never mind early - it didn't arrive until 12 am! To make matters worse, I received a text message to say that my taxi had been dispatched at 11:42 pm. The text message contained a link to track it - when I followed the link, I was horrified, that it said "Booking Cancelled" in red. When the shuttle arrived, he had the wrong name for us - Walsh instead of Wales - but we were getting on it. Then we had to wait for another couple because they had gone to the wrong place to wait for the transfer. So we didn't leave until gone 12:10 am! We did not get into our hotel room until 1:30 am - exhausted and quite aggravated by the process. To make matters worse, I had asked one of the Club Cars taxi drivers who was picking other passengers at the airport, whether he could kindly check if our transfer was on its way. He just looked at me and asked: "Don't you have a mobile phone?". This was just plain rude, he didn't know what kind of day we'd had or what kind of miserable experience we were already having with his company. Nobody should be spoken to in such a manner. The only pleasant thing was that the night manager of the hotel was very kind to change our room to one closer to the entrance because he saw we had a lot of luggage!!! I did not make a note of his name, but this was the night of 27/28 December - at the Britannia Hotel Stockport. We didn't even ask for it - he was just lovely!

Restaurant

Jenny's restaurant reopens 1st January 2021 and serves traditional English dishes and a carvery every night with at least 2 different meats to choose from. You can book two-courses for £12.50 per person on the next page.

Bar

Jenny's Cocktail bar serves hot, cold and soft drinks. It has a basic menu of pizzas and burgers, as well as a separate kids' menu. An average main costs £9. The bar has a ‘happy hour' from 6pm - 7pm daily, where a pint of beer costs £2.

Breakfast

Continental breakfast is available and is served in the hotel's restaurant. You can expect all the typical items, as well as teas, coffees and juices.

On 1st January 2021 a hot buffet breakfast will be available to book, which will include all of the continental choices too.

Served:7am - 9.30am Monday - Friday and 8am - 10.30am at weekends.
