Virgin Atlantic Codeshare Arrangement
Virgin Atlantic is launching a codeshare arrangement with Air Jamaica from 18 November on flights from Gatwick to Kingston and Montego Bay.
TAs a result of the agreement travellers will be able to choose from four direct services a week from Gatwick to Jamaica and take advantage of internal connections in Jamaica between Kingston and Montego Bay.
"With this codeshare we will bring Virgin Atlantic's legendary onboard service to all Jamaicans. We already have a big commitment to the Caribbean and have a strong relationship with the local people and the tourist industry, which will benefit enormously from our expansion," says Virgin Atlantic ceo, Steve Ridgway.
Virgin will offer connections between Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester and Jamaica, and in future plans to build connections from Jamaica to other Caribbean destinations. The codeshare agreement will also apply to Virgin Atlantic's flights between Heathrow and Miami.
Virgin Atlantic and Air Jamaica already share links between their frequent flyer schemes, Flying Club and 7th Heaven.
Virgin started flights between Gatwick and Kingston at the end of October following the launch of its service from Gatwick to Montego Bay last year. The airline says it is now looking at adding more flights to Jamaica in the new year.
