Following announcements by Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary that Ryanair is considering installing pay-toilets on their aircraft in an attempt to further lower fares for all passengers, Holiday Extras reveals that 76 per cent of fliers would prefer to keep their legs crossed than pay a pound to spend a penny.
A pragmatic 20% of respondents said they would pay around 30p, while only five per cent said they’d be happy to pay the proposed £1.
Mike Whiting, managing editor of HolidayExtras.com, said: "What Mr O’Leary is proposing, replacing some of the toilets with additional seats, makes good financial sense on his short-haul routes. However, it’ll be a couple of years before the changes can be brought in – if ever.
“Plenty of people commute an hour a day to and from their place of work without access to a loo. If toilet charges are introduced, then my advice will be to use the toilets at the airport before you board."
