We have all enjoyed the benefits of fresh towels and bed linen when staying at a hotel.
But, while it is nice to leave the hotel in the morning and arrive back to a fresh and clean room, there are environmental impacts that you may wish to consider.
By having your towels, flannels and bed linen changed on a daily basis, you will be encouraging the constant laundering of these items which uses water, electricity and chemicals. The important thing to ask yourself is: do you really need these items washed and cleaned every day?
Some hotels are now only replacing towels and flannels if you request them, which often involves simply leaving the dirty items on the floor for when the maid enters your room.
However, if your hotel does not have these procedures in place, you may wish to hang your 'do not disturb' sign on your door as you see fit. Why not hang it on the door every other day? This would mean your linen will only be laundered half as much as it would normally, cutting down on electricity, water and chemical use.
